Courses for Teachers
DAI runs training courses aimed at Teachers and other educators. Places on these courses are limited so early application is advisable. We run these courses several times each year, in different locations, in response to demand. A course certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. You may then apply for inclusion on the DAI tutor lists which are available to members of the DAI.
Courses for Parents
We run a one-day course for parents (also sometimes delivered over 2/3 evenings) which is designed to equip parents with the key information they need to better understand their child’s dyslexia, how to support their child at home and how to effectively advocate with the school. We also run some webinars and shorter information talks on dyslexia and dyscalculia.
Readable Project
The Readable Project is an online book club specifically designed for young people with dyslexia. Each group has 6 young people who are of a similar age and enjoy stories centred on the same theme. It is facilitated by a qualified teacher who has been trained in how best to support young people with dyslexia.
Dyslexia and Me
Dyslexia and Me is a workshop we offer for children and young people to help them understand what dyslexia is and how it affects individuals as well as working to build their self esteem and resilience. The workshop also engages in myth-busting in a fun peer to peer environment.
