Dyslexia in the workplace

Do any of the following sound like you?

  • I confuse appointment dates, times and miss meetings.
  • I have difficulty with planning work schedules and deadlines.
  • I have problems with starting and finishing work.
  • I find it difficult taking notes and writing reports.
  • My spelling is inconsistent and inaccurate.
  • I often have to re-read information several times to get the meaning.
  • I forget verbal instructions.
  • I have poor short-term memory.
  • I am concerned about training and promotion.

You could be dyslexic! Perhaps you already know you are dyslexic, but don’t know how to access support at work.

Dyslexia is recognised as a disability within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010. As such employers are obliged to make “reasonable adjustments” to help individuals who have dyslexia overcome any disadvantages caused by the condition.

The Dyslexia Association provides a range of services which can help you to improve your job performance and efficiency.
